accidental starting.
Can anyone help me out here. My 2012 Durango just started, setting in the garage, by itself. Without the key or me around. I heard a noise in the garage and opened the door and the Durango was running. I had to mash the brake while pushing the start button to get it to stop running. I do have remote start, but it was not being used. Any ideas what is is going on. Also last week I was in the garage when all of a sudden the rear door opened without any assistance by the fob or the open button on dash. I closed it manually. Anyone know why?? This really bothers me as the carbon municide had built up with the garage door being closed.
Did you need to unlock the Durango to open the door and shut the engine off? Did it say something in the information center about Remote Start being active and/or to press the start key?
If these issues happen somewhat regularly, you might want to try removing the batteries from your fobs when home to see if it stops happening as long as the batteries are out. If so, then you likely have a failed button/contact in one or both of your key fobs. Or if you bought the Durango used locally, maybe the previous owner still has a fob and learned where you live and is playing games with you.
