2015 liftgate lights out
Hello!
I’m having an issue with the racetrack light, as well as both license plate lights suddenly going out on my ‘15 Limited, the reverse lights and interior lights are working. It doesn’t have any water in it. I’m assuming broken wires in the harness where it bends, but would like to rule out a blown fuse. The fuse box lid doesn’t list which fuse these lights are on, does anyone know? It’s currently nice and cold outside, and I don’t have anywhere inside to work on this, so anything that’ll help me spend as little time outside is appreciated!
Thanks!
Finally had some time to keep checking this out today. Found the fuse for exterior lights, it was good. Pulled the panels off the hatch and checked wiring for any breaks or obvious damage, found none. I have power and ground to the track light plug. I removed to track light and took it inside to check it over (way warmer there!). Put power to the plug, got reverse lights, but no track light. Found a tiny connector for the track light, and put power there, and the light worked! Traced the wiring and found that the licence plate lights share a ground with the track light. My plate lights have been out for years and I just don’t care enough to replace them. Disconnected both plate lights, and found one has a pin corroded off a in the plug. It appears that the corrosion in the plug spread through a crack and bridged the power and ground. I cut off the plug and plugged the track light back into the Durango, and everything works again! Hopefully this might help someone having the same issue!
