Durango motor dead
Long post, looking for help. 2012 Durango citadel with a 5.7. Last week I was on hour 4 of a 6 hour trip when I took my exit off of I-75 and our 2012 Durango died on the off ramp. Went from running fine at 80mph to only having electrical power. No warnings or overheat indication prior to the shutdown. Initially the motor would turn weakly and after sitting a while I got it to restart once and drove it straight to a hotel about two miles away. I had it towed to the dealership and they said that it needs a motor due to the upper radiator hose chaffing on the serpentine belt.
I got it back to the house yesterday and had a chance to look at it. There is some chaffing on the upper radiator hose, but it did not penetrate. The cooling system has fluid and is not leaking. The battery was at 5v and I have had it charging. 10v and climbing. I attempted to jump it and when I hit the push button, there is a slight click and then after a few seconds the dash indicates run but the motor does not crank. No codes, the throttle control light is illuminated, but might be symptomatic of the no start. I put a socket on the flywheel and the motor does have rotation. I.e the motor is not seized. At this point I am thinking to swap the battery and then the starter, but looking for any and all input.

Update but no progress. Charged the battery overnight and had a good 12v, the throttle control light is no longer lit when attempting to start. Voltage drops to about 11 when attempting to start. One other detail I noticed is that when attempting to start, all the accessories turn off like they are supposed to when attempting to start. After 10-15 seconds they all turn back on, but the motor never cranks. I tried to jump it again with no change. I am considering the starter again but it does not add up why a potential alternator issue would kill a starter. Anyone know of a fusible link or fuse that would potentially blow?
I find it very hard to believe your motor is "Gone" simply due to a slight chaffing on a hose. Especially if coolant levels are still good and no over heat. What about oil levels?
Personally, I'd start with the battery. Take it out and to a local parts store to have them test it for free. If they determine it to be bad, get a new one and see what happens. Then move down the line from there. I'd also suggest taking it to a different dealer.

Well, after letting the car sit for months, I finally gave up on it and took it to a mechanic. After a week, they came back and said that the starter was shot and I have a lifter tick. The hemi tick has been there for years and does not seem to affect anything. Very curious if the rest of the issues are resolved. FWIW, Dodge CDJ in Cordele GA said that this was a motor replacement.
One more update. In addition to the old hemi tick, also have a cylinder 2 misfire. Swapped coils and plugs and the misfire did not follow. Guessing the cam is shot, but debating if it is worth throwing any more money at. Confirmed the head gasket is good. Any other ideas of what the issue could be, besides that cam? Going to swap the fuel injectors on the off chance it is an injector, but then out of ideas.
