No idea what offset your current wheels are but there should be a stamp marking on the inside(backside of the hub). You'll have to unbolt and pull off truck to find out.
Please use the links given in first Post
https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html
Shows how -44mm offset on a 10" wide rim is 3.5" backspacing if you follow the progression which makes the wheel stick out pretty far. -44 on an 11" is 4.25"BS. I would be careful about going too far as it puts alot of pressure on the hubs the further away from center you go. It reduces your weight carrying capaicty and there is no chart for how much so you have to play caution in that scenerio.

Thank you for the valuable post! Just got my first dodge and it has off road tires on it, looking to put some regular treads on. Checking tire rack now for the appropriate size, thanks again!

Default 33s 35s 305,315,285 ????

Ok have 03, 1/2 ton, 4wd. Now this was a order ST model quad cab. (pervious owner) no power nothing. Nothing glamorous. The 4wd part threw me at first cause there was no badge saying 4x4, and front end ( plastic strip below metal bumper) was 3.5 inches from ground , serious nose dive look, cranked tbs 4.5x and got 1.75" out of it. Sitting damn near level no difference between friend who has 2" lvl kit on his.

With that said what decent tire can I go with to fill wheel wells with minor rub on stock 17s, to later go with what back spacing and offset do I need to get a good bit of the truck outside. Meaning I don't want that stuff look I want it to stick out. Thanks

hi guys,

i'm looking into getting my 2nd ram, a 3rd gen 2500 4wd. I read the first page, but can anyone else confirm that 35x12.5x17 will fit with a 2" leveling kit? so far, all the 2" leveling kits are saying they recommend a 33" tire.

Also, what would be the best rim to get in regards to backspacing - with the concept i'd like to get them to stick out as far as possible but right under the wheel well - PA tire coverage

Yes, you can even clear most 35s with minor rubbing no lift/level nothing. At hard lock on factory rims, This is been tested/used by my brother and myself. Tire brands used TBC Mudclaws, Nitto Mud Grapplers/Terra graps, 3 other various AT treads, bfg, goodyear, and cooper.

Now with that said, factory rims have a 18mm offset, I do believe you can get most aftermarkets in the +18, or the other variation that is -12mm this will push the tire out from the truck having the -12 on a set of fuel rims no rub with 35s thus far no lift/level. but standing in front of the truck has a about a 1/2-3/4" of tire that appears to be outside of the truck.

Currently running 03 1500 Hemi - 2" lvl kit, fuel hostages 22's with 35x12.50's mud graps.

12 Cummins, 2500 - 6"lift SkyJ. 22" Fuel hostages with 37 toyos. In shipping, 38 BFG m/t km2s with 20" XD rims

Thank you! So, to be crystal clear, i'd be looking for what aftermarket rims exactly?

17x8or9 - 8x6.5 lug patter right? - but what is the backspacing on a -12mm rim? or will an x amount of backspacing already be spec'd to -12mm offset? Or can i just get a wheel with less backspacing, like 4.5 or something?

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/resul...rSpecial=false

This would be for XD - More or less factory 17x9 Fit.

if link does work your looking for something like this

Offset: 18mm Backspacing: 5.71" Bolt Pattern: 8-165
17x9 rim This set up will be factory, just different look of course.

thanks again bud, so if i'm following you correctly. if i take the middle road, at 00mm offset, the backspacing looks to average ~5".

going by roughstimates here - if these go like this:

+18mm/5.5"
00mm/5"
-12mm/4.5"

(again those are dumbed down averages i believe i'm seeing for the sake of conversation)

if you're saying the -12mm/4.5" setups roughly stick out 1/2-3/4" shouldn't the 00mm/5" setup be perfect for what i'm after?

again, in PA, we're supposed to have them covered, and the 00mm setup i'm thinking should be the max?

Can anyone tell me what king of mpg i could expect with running 33s or 35s? Also, I'm really trying to hunt down a manual transmission. Can anyone tell me if i can get away on stock gearing?

This is going to be my dd and i want something that isn't as ridiculous as my toy TJ (jeep) in mpg.

The 18mm will set rim in factory location, Running a bit wider tire than stock. dont know exact dimension difference for sure. You might get away with the dead nuts 00 offset. 31, 33s had no effect on my MPG, On my 1500 5.7, 3.55......5.9 w/ 3.92. 35s on ram lost about 1-2mpg average on 3 of the first tanks after getting new tires normal driving.
Dgo always got 12mpg period with the 5.9, on 235s, 31s, and 33s....

Bought my 2500 with the 37s, Cold air, chipped, 4" Duals ---18city/23Hwy.
