I towed my ~5000 travel trailer today. 8-9/9.5 .... 9/9.5 if Im real nice to the pedal. But doing the speed limit ... 65 or 70 .. with the gasser, dats it man ...

Maybe the chip. I cant say dont have one. But make sure your tires are at max - not sure that it matters but do you have LT's or P's on thar ?

i towed a 14ft landscape type trailer from NJ to VT (275 miles) with my 2006 4.7 manual and got 12 on the way up (full) and 12.3 on the way back! (empty)

Towing a 6-9kpd horse trailer i get 10-12mpg. all the time.

I get that range towing a 20 foot 3500lb camper

I tow my 22' Cobia boat every other weekend (about 5400lbs) and I average about 8 mpg... Kinda sucks but beats the hell out ofpaying$250 a monthfor a boat slot...Oh and being here inFlorida I don't tow up hill, I can ONLY imagine what kindampg it would get if I had to do that. Gas mileage isnt' the best on these trucks but if you bought it for gas mileage you bought it for the wrong reason anyways... Ram's are head turners like NO other truck out there... I love mine and if I totalled it out today, I would have another one tomorrow...

Unblieveable that today at 3.40 per gallon it will cost me almost $10.00 to go less than 30 miles..... I was going to the Grand Canyon this year, but I can fly, rent a car and get a cabin for not too much more than towing (3000 round trip = about $1,000 for gas if towing not including driving around once there)!

I wish it was still 3.40 over here...I paid 3.79 for 89 octane at the cheapy arco gas station. I put $80 in and only got a little over 21gal[:@]

I just drove my buddy's 2003 3500 Duelly Diesel 4X4 manual and it seems fairly powerful... I asked him milage and he said (his is over 160K miles)

"I get 15-16 driving around and 11 towing whateverI tow and it's been that way since I got it"

That made me feel a whole lot better NOT
I am surprised he doesnt get 20 unloaded and 13-14 loaded. Diesels are known for their excellent fuel milage loaded or not. The downside is the added expense in maintenance and fuel costs. Diesel is over 4 dollars a gallon over here. F-that.


I still do want a diesel though. So much fun when modded.

$3.15 for 87 here in southern MN.

Towing my companies fiber splice trailer (a bit over 7k), my '06 Mega gets around 16-17 on relatively flat ground at 65. Once I get into the hilly terain, I drop to 55-60 and it stays about the same, down to about 14 at times. Over a 300 mile trip and I'll easily average 15-16. Just gotta keep off the gas.

i towed a 16' V-nose trailer (615 miles and about 5000lbs loaded) before any power mods on my truck and i got about 11.5 runnin 75MPH...not sure what it is now, but should be fairly higher
