when i was a little younger in high school i used to work for a plumper. he used to make me drive her ford around. oh man i would beat the hell out of that thing soo bad cause i hated to even look at it. you know the pre 2000 looks. ewwww. i took a 04 out on a est drive before the ram and rippedit up pretty good too. but i always beat on anything i test drive. got to see what its got. needless to say when i got my dodge i didnt get the one i test drove haha.
you know, in all honesty, if i were to buy a truck that i was going to beat the crap out of on a farm or something, i think i'd be inclined to get the ford. they really do make a damn good truck, it just looks like ****, has a crap interior, and there is nothing at all special about it.
The truck we had on the farm when I was a kid was a Jeep J10 "Honcho" with an AMC 390HD in it. God, I loved that truck! It became my first four wheeler and even though by the time I was old enough to drive it, it was rusted to the point that the floor boards and bed were replaced with plywood, that thing was still awesome!
Engine cranked on the coldest upstate NY days and it hauled with the best of 'em. I would have loved to been able to see what the even more heavy duty J20 was like!
I actually wish Chrysler would sell the Jeep segment so it could be it's own company again, freeing it up to re-introduce a full size and mid size pickup, not to mention some really cool take off's of the wrangler, like what the Scrambler was!!!
I wouldn't even begin to know where any pics of our Jeep J10 would be, if even any still exist, but for those of you who are too young to remember them, here's a couple pics:
