A pre-runner is the truck that goes over the course (ex. Baja) or sections of the course multiple times ahead of (or pre-run) the main truck,to plan out the best lines to take, where the major hazards are, and plan out the fastest way through certain areas.

It'll take ALOT more then you think to make your truck into a functional pre-runner, including putting thousands of dollars and hours of work into the vehicle, but if you're just going for looks then you could just get a small suspension lift, put spacers up front for the stance and get new front fenders, a skid plate, and some lights and you'll pretty much be set. It wont work as well as a legit one off-road but it will be better then stock.

i agree completely. a ram is not the greatest vehicle to make a prerunner, too heavy and the IFS is not set up for that at all. you'd be better off starting with a dak or a taco. in fact, doesn't the taco come with a 'pre runner' option?

There's a "prerunner" Ram in my area...I think all he did was add those huge extended fenders. Looks pretty odd. I don't know if he actually uses it as a prerunner or just made it look like one. If I see it again, I'll take a pic and post it.

Well rams could be turned into a great pre-runner but they require more work then other trucks because of the way the suspension's set up from the factory. Rams have the strongest frame in their class, so thats a big plus.

why would you want a pre-runner if your just gunna drive it around town and get groceries?
no offense but that sounds like a huge waste of money.
