I'd recommend the CTD---especially if you are much of a weekend warrior, and some of the tracks can be a good distance away---plus, there is sooooo much you can do with a ctd in terms of mods!!!! As long as you have the finances and justify the need----which you apparently have, get the diesel, you won't regret it---especially out west.

CTD ? well its so simple to flat out say get a used CTD, problem is, if you buy the wrong CTD truck, your in for one hell of a night mare, as oposed to knowing what you all ready have.

I know the CTD take abuse and keep on ticking, but the trick is to find a truck that's not been abused, in my walk of life, its the diesel trucks that are getting all the abuse and being **** all over and than the used car lot is expecting/charging more because the abused trucks has a CTD.

I don't know alot abought the new 6.7 CTD ( othier than it did not win me over ) but thiers a lot to be said for buying brand spanking new, Trading a used truck that you know inside and out for a used ride you know nothing abought scare's the hell out of me, hemi, or CTD.

I would bet you could get a new CTD with your trade for not a lot more than a used CTD. and yup, this opens up the 6.7 vers 5.9 debate ...

You are correct about that, the trucks I have looked at, I spent a long time looking over, and some were pretty abused. I walked away from those, but then started doing research online to find better trucks then the local used/auction lots, and found a few good ones including a freshly traded 07 5.9 CTD truck, I have a thread going about buying over the internet just becasue of that scary feeling that you can't fully check it out before you head out to look at it and make a deal the same day, ulesss you wanted to drive 10+ hours back if you wanted to think about it. I looked into new, and unfortunatly, I would still get about 10-15K off the price of new when going for a few years older, so that is the route we would take if we traded, plus that puts us in the 5.9 CTD selection or the early 6.7's that everyone rags on, so we are looking for 5.9 trucks. I am actually waiting on some info from the dealership with that 07, and hopefully if I get that today I will be heading down to look at it and see if it is worth making a deal on by the end of the week...

Ask and yee shall recieve, lol...

It was detailed when I picked it up, but I drove home trough so bad storms yesterday (thunder, lightning, big rigs spray from puddles) so it is a little dirty again, I also installed the step tubes I had on my other truck...

Here are some pics (I put details in case anyone just wanted to skip around):
Pic taken from the driveway (truck is on the street)
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1983.JPG
same angle(ish) but closer, you can make out the dents in the front bumper
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1984.JPG
more of the bumper damage (not much) and down the drivers side
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1985.JPG
I just realized this isn't the best pic, but it was a shot of the stuff for the GN hitch
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1986.JPG
driver side angled from the rear, you can still see that the truckis wet and dirty from the trip home last night, and you can see the step tubes I put on (took them off the 1500 I traded in) before driving it home. Also there is no "HEAVY DUTY" badge on the tailgate, were they on the 07 trucks?
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1987.JPG
passenger side angled from the rear, you can see a little wavyness in the rear door, it's not a dent, just wavy panel, someone probably leaned on it or a dent was there an was poped out, you also see the aftermarket 3rd brake light, I noticed that it has LED cargo lights so I assume it is aftermarket...
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1988.JPG
passenger side angled from the front, you see the wavy door a little more with the sun behind it, also notice there are no Cummins logos on either side of the truck...
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1989.JPG
Front from the passenger side, I love the cowl hood, and you can also see more of the front bumper damage
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1990.JPG
this is a shot detailing the rather large wheel well gap (front pass. side)
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1991.JPG
The NEW and I mean installed the day I picked up the truck new exhaust, tailpipe
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1992.JPG
another shot of the tailpipe, and you can see the road grime from driving home in a storm last night
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1993.JPG
a shot of the new muffler and all that from inside the rear pass. wheel well
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1994.JPG
the interior is in good shape, just a little spot on the side of the seat, but hey it comes with floor mats
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1995.JPG
shot of the driver side front with the hood up, can see more of the bumper damage too
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1996.JPG
the pretty 24V CTD, underhood shot
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1997.JPG
the pretty 24V CTD, underhood shot, and you can start to see the airraid CAI
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1998.JPG
slightly blurry pic of the pretty 24V CTD, underhood shot on the turbo side
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN1999.JPG
shot of the turbo and manifold from above
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2000.JPG
Passenger side profile, you can see the wavy rear door, and the trailer I will be pulling with it under the carport in the background
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2001.JPG
angle shot from the pass. rear, notice the PO debadged the SLT badge as well
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2002.JPG
shot of the cruiser alloy rims (at least that is what the center cap says), anyone know if this is a good brand? And wow what an offset, no wonder the tires stick out so far...
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2003.JPG
this shot is of the clearance of the tires from inside the wheel well, notice the wheels are soo ofset that the brakes aren't even inside the backspacing, is that normal with lifted trucks?
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2004.JPG
close up on the Ram 2500 Heavy Duty badge, I took this shot to use in a sig or at the top on a webpage if I make one for this truck
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2005.JPG
Oh, and if you couldn't tell the windows are tinted, I put a white bag on the center console and you can barely make it out in this shot in the daylight, drvers window
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2006.JPG
shot of the back with the tailgate down, you can see the bed liner that the dealership installed because the bed was scratched up and had a GN hitch so they just covered it up,
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2007.JPG
shot of the 3rd brake light sliding rear window and toolbox
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2008.JPG
shot looking trough the drivers window, see how tinted that is compared to the background next to the door?
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2009.JPG
The rear tint is even darker, it looks like it had the factory tint then they added aftermarket stuff, you can see som scratches on the inside of the aftermarket stuff
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2010.JPG
no clue what this thing is, there is a wire coming off of it and it is sitting on a felt pad
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2011.JPG
another shot of this thing, but there are numbers on the back side, so I will search on those numbers to see what it may be
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2012.JPG
shot of the Eclipse in dash Nav unit that also plays CD's DVD's and so on, there is also a wire in the console (not pictured to attache your Ipod ( I just don't have an Ipod, lol) I took a shot of the Nav, but it showed exactly where I live, so I took it down...
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2013.JPG
another shot of the head unit open showing the dual slots so you can have a Map DVD in and running the Nav while also using a CD or DVD.
http://www.pszweb.com/truck/New%20Truck/DSCN2015.JPG
the power PDA with the Banks 6 gun, set on level 5, and **** does that pull nicely, I am going to try level 6 later today if I get some time to go for a drive...

A 1500 will never get any fuel mileage pulling that much weight. nor will it ever be reliable pulling that much weight. When choosing a Diesel U get torque,hp,tranny, stabillity, and almost 3xs the fuel mileage while towing.
