2006 Dodge Ram MegaCab, 5.7 Hemi, 4WD, a whopping 11.7mpg all the time! Plus with gas near $3 a gallon it takes about $88 to fill up!

 

I have a 2005 1500 Quad cad long bed 2wd w/ the hemi. 17" wheels and 3.55 gears. I also added a hard bed cover. I get 18-20 on the highway and 14-16 in the city. Now towing a 8500lb enclosed trailer, 7-8mpg.

2006 Mega Cab, Hemi, 4X4, Larime, Auto, 3.73 gears-, 4800 miles on her..... 8.8-9.2 In town, 11-12 Highway (60-65 MPH & Cruise Control on) checked when filled up with gas. Trip computer is over by about 1 MPG.

The Hemi runs but sucks the gas!!

 

That is the worst mpg I have ever heard from a 06 Hemi Ram.

My 2004 1500 with 5.7 hemi is getting 14.5 mpg thats a 5 month avrage.
has been almost 16 mpg on some tanks and as low as 12 on some.

 

This passed weekendIi tried something for the second time. I was filling my boat gas cans with 89 oct. gas so at the end of filling the cans I put two gallons of the 89 in the trucks fell tank.I did this once before. Both times going the same distance on rural HWy's My mileage went up to 15.5. no speeds over 60 mph. Mostly 50 to 60. I traveled 90 miles round trip had 23 stops each way half were red lights. my mileage With 2 gallons of 89 the rest were 87. came out to 15.5 by the old fashion method. paper and pencil. My truck is an 04 Quad Cab 4x4 Hemi ThunderRoad with 17 inch tires and the trailer towing package.Te tire pressure is 40 #'s

I couldn't believe it myself but I actually got an average of 22 mpg on a trip to my parents house. I got stuck doing 55-60 behind some grandparents and noticed my mpg indicator was going up. I wondered how long I could keep it up since the speed limit was 75. I wasn't in a hurry and I knew exactly how long it would take to complete the trip so I figured it would be interesting to see what kind of mileage I could maintain and how much money I could save by going so slow. I was use to making the trip there in about 2 hours doing between 75-80 and spending about 30 bucks to fill the truck up when I got there and 30 bucks when I got back. I also thought back to the days when the speed limit was 55 and thats what we all did or close to it. So the wife put in a movie and we kicked back and set the cruise to 55. Sure it sucked doing 55 the entire time but it only added about 1 hour to the total trip and saved about ~$25 in gas. Well worth it in my book. I also tried this in our charger on the way to vegas and found the difference between doing 65 and 90. I spent about an extra $4 or $5 dollars ever 90 miles by doing 90 mph where my gas mileage was cut in half. At one point was I was getting over 30mpg in the charger at 60 mph! Guess I'll be driving slower for now on...
