I just got to thinkin that possibly the sparkplugs have not been changed recently. Do you guys use the stock 14MCC4's or platinum? Mitchell and NAPA call for a SPRE14MCC4, any thoughts? I know the spark plugs were not changed when I bought it from Max just last week. It had just turned over 90,000 and chances are the customer did not do this before he traded it either. I will pull one today and see what the electrode looks like. It calls for them to be changed every 30,000 miles so that means it could have the stock plugs in it causing some of the problems.

I am also going to dump the cheapo oil and filter weuse for some Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W20 and a nice Fram filter. Eventually I will dump both gear cases and replace the oil in them with synthetic as well...

Don't use FRAM unless it's the Tough-Gard. See this article. http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy.html

I'd recommend using a Pure-One by Purolator.

Wow.... guess I won't be using Mopar filters anymore. Just replaced the original filter a month ago with a Mopar.

Know of any other studies that confirm the findings in this one?

2006 4.7L single cab 4x4, flowmasters 40 series, and k&n full intake. i was getting 18-20mpg at 65mph and 14-16 in town (driving with traffic)
The mods can help or hurt, it depends on your foot !! except the throttle body spacer i just put on sucks more gas no matter what (7-9mpg), and im not feeling any more noticible power. i think im gonna take it off.

I found another issue as well....

Seems I filled the tank with low grade regular 87 octane at Quick Trip the other night...DOH!

I added a couple of bottles of Champion Octane Booster I picked up a Wally World when I got my oil last nightto the 34 gallons of fuel I just purchased. I hope to see a little better mileage and I will try and remember to hit the mid-grade from now on...

I took my truck for a blast up I-81 yesterday to check the highway mileage. According to the computer on the highway it's pulling down 18.5 MPG with the cruise set at 70. I was pretty happy with that.

Stock I think.
132,000 miles
2003 Hemi 1500 SLT Quadcab 4X4
Tonneau cover
3.55 rear
265/70/R17 tires

I hear QT is blending their fuel with E10 without telling any customers or publically putting it on the pumps. Everyone has seen between a 10 to 15 percent drop in mpg. This is confirmed at least in the Tulsa area with QT all the sudden having fuel prices at least 10 cents cheaper then stores selling 100 gas. Take the test and purchase gas at Shell or other 100 gas place and watch your mpg climb.
