Mobil 1 5w-20 & filter $29.00 @ Autozone
lol I use Royal Purple and I dont swear by it. it sure dont get anywhere close to 1-2 mpg increase thats for sure. Maybe it does better in a dirty engine cause it'll help clean it out, but in a clean engine like I had, it really doesnt make a noticeable difference. Worth it? to me, i suppose -- i keep buyin it! might not be to the average person though (aka the smart people not willing to pay $8+ per qt)
I know what your talking about silver...not enough time for ANYTHING during finals
and I use RP, dont swear by it but every time I tell myself im going to get anything else they run a sale on it....I wanna put it in my transmission pretty bad but that would be high as hell

The only reason I stick with RP is because I've used it so far and have yet to develop the infamous "HEMI Tick". I'm just afraid if I switch to something else it will start and I won't be able to get it to go away.
^^ i doubt the RP is what's keeping your truck from having the "hemi tick".
The synthetic oils are funny. There's always cults of people claiming what's superior. IMO, ANY Synthetic is superior.
I have been doing Mobil 1 changes because Advance Auto has that same sale evry few months and I buy up a few oil changes at a time.
Their sales go back and forth between Mobil 1 and Valvoline synthetic. I get whatever is on sale. I promise your engine won't know the difference...lol granted you have a good filter
I have a hard time believing that one synthetic gives 1-2mpg gain over another. That comparison is possible when comparing conventional oil to a synthetic, but not synthetic to sythetic. I would have to se it to believe it. I think RP has made sooooo much money on a purple hype additive that dissapears once ran.
I think I'll save my money for other stuff.

I'd rather not take the chance. And I'm not the only one, I know I've read in here that Hammer says his tick got quieter when he switched to RP. I'll spend a couple extra bucks for piece of mind. With my military discount it's not all that much more anyway.
Whatever makes you sleep at night..lol I'm the same way on certain stuff bro. No biggie.
I got my tick quieter by adding Lucas Sythetic stabilizer. I was a bit hesitant as the normal stuff is kinda thick, but the synthetic is made for lighter oils and it's as thin as the oil I dumped in (5w-30..w/mds off)
It's super expensive ~$15-18 for just a qt.(in rear diff style bottles)
It seemed to quiet the tick down a bit at first, but getting back into warmer weather it seems to be getting louder again.(possibly the engine gets warmer faster is all and therefore I hear it more often)
BUT, I was reading up on oil filter media and private reviews and I think I am going to try a different oil filter next oil change and see if that has anything to do with aiding in the tick. I have been using Purolator Pure One and they use dense filter media that may hinder flow. These Hemi truck are spec'd out to only flow a disgusting 4 psi at idle and the filter could be restricting the low pressure of oil to make it's way through the media??That may be another reason some trucks don't do it while others do because your pump may just flow a tad more than mine because when I give it gas and bring the rpms up to just 900rpms, the tick dissapears. Let the rpms settle back to 650rpms and within 10 seconds the tick starts again.

Definitely could be.. I usually pick up a Mopar filter @ wally world. Used FRAM for years until I read an independent study on oil filters. Turns out FRAM is one of the worst built filters you can use.
