Really Bad Day. Here is so Scary pictures
i dont care what modifications you've done, aside from removing the sensors entirely, the airbags should deploy at that kind of force. There is NO excuse for them not to. This really has me a little nervous as well as pissed. Nervous because i dont want this same thing happening to me if i get in a heavy crash like that -- they better deploy. Pissed because i cant believe car companies have been allowed to make a safety product like this and not have it work 100% of the time and GET AWAY WITH IT!! What happened to the 5 star front end crash rating on these trucks? Granted, he walked away basically unharmed, but the bags should have still deployed.
If I was in your shoes, i'd be raising hell until justice was served. Whether its dodge for a faulty airbag system or the body lift company for making a product that kills the airbags and not putting written warnings in place, this is somebodys fault. I wouldnt settle for "eh, freak occurence, tough luck".

there has to be like a 15 mph difference in speed or something like that ..and yes it has to be a certain amount of force exerted across the entire front of the vehicle theres certain degree angles too so it could of been a "lucky shot" that the pole hit in between these angles- in fact it actually looks like it did.... IF certian criteria is not met-the air bads will not deploy.. Sometimes air bags cause for damage then the accident itself.
btw if any kind of force enable the deployment of airbags---the airbag companys would be making a mint.. a 200 dollar body shop fee for a front bumper dent could turn into easy a couple thousand dollar job. and then somebody that would of not had any injuries-now would be suffering from chemical and friction burns.......IMO
Im pretty sure being in a big vehicle like that doesnt help anything when compared to a car if you're the only vehicle involved. More mass means more to stop. In a big truck vs small car, it works because the extra mass of the truck gets partially absorbed by the car. When you hit a concrete wall or telephone pole, it really doesnt matter how heavy or big the vehicle is because there is nothing to absorb the energy.
The only thing that does help with bigger vehicles is they typically have a larger crumple zone before the passenger compartment (made with stronger metal also) so there is more time to absorb impact. Then again they need the extra room because there is so much more mass getting abruptly halted.

I can tell just from the pictures he was definitely wearing a seatbelt. Surprised he didnt break his collarbone either. He'll at least have some bruising tomorrow
Yeah..55mph with no air bags deployed and no seat belt? Wow, that would have been VERY bad..
ah man... im ending this post right now. sorry bout the graphic mental pictures. beachbummer, just be glad you were wearing your seatbelt.
