Default Matracks

I was thinking of getting mattracks for my 05 ram 1500! Has anyone used a track system before? If so would you recommend it for winter use only, and how are they on dry pavement?

It would be cheaper to get a second truck dedicated for off road than 1 set of mattracks. Iv seen quotes for over $10,000 for atv mattracks.

We tried a set of matracks on a 2500 Chevy 4x4 standard cab a few years ago - over $10K back then too. There wasn't enough clearance unless we either removed the front bumper or installed a lift. Neither were viable options as the truck was a crown corp service truck. If you are driving somewhere where you need Matracks, just buy a decent quad with a set of Commanders or Tatou's. (We've even put them on SxS's and had good luck.)
The Matracks weren't very durable - and stay off the highway with them.

seems to be on the unpractical side of things unless you find yourself driving in the North pole from time to time! I would spend that $10k in much wiser ways than turning your truck into a tank.

Not to mention, even if you had enough lift to clear them, I think they would reek some serious havoc on a half ton IFS suspension.

I checked them out a while back for my rich friends. One set was quoted at 35k for a chevy 1/2t. No lift needed, and it actually lowers the gear ratio(numerically increases). They are badass. But unless I live in a constant 3ft+ of snow, or swamps I deem them unnecessary.

I say, if you got the coin, do it and then post up pics, otherwise, us poor folks on here can't afford em so we need to live vicariously through those who can
