Default How about some tire opinions!?

Whatta ya guys think? I'm between 2 tires and wanna see if anyone has any experience with either tire or what not. I'm looking at the Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ and the Mickey Thompson Baja Claw. I don't need "the best off road tire" because the truck won't be off road that much but I don't want something that'll let me down if I get the urge or need. Does anyone know what kind of life these tires might give? Obviously the MTZ will be better mileage but by how much?

Both awesome tires!

I've owned nothing but Mickey Thompson/Dick Cepek tires on my trucks for the last 15 years or so. I had a set of Mickey MTXs (replaced by the MTZ) on my 2nd Gen and got 68k out of 'em when I traded the truck in.

You really don't want the Claws for a daily driver. Although it's one of the top 2 or 3 rock climbing tires made and also a hell of a mud tire, it is NOT a siped tire and can be downright adventuresome on wet pavement. It's also the only tire along with the Interco Bogger that I can say is louder than Nitto Mud Grapps!

Go with the MTZs. I have a couple of hunting club buddies with them who love 'em...

Thanks Hammer, You seem to know at least something about everything! That gave me the insight I needed, I know a few guys as well who run the MTZ's and they all like them. Nobody I know has ever ran the claws and up here in Michigan.. We definately need the siping with the rain and snow we get.

Thanks again Hammer!

the baja claws wont last very long on a daily driver. they will probly last around 20-25 thousand miles. (around how many miles by buddy got with his.) i would go with the mtz. some of my buddies have them and the like them and they can hold there own pretty good offroad.

I read an article in Diesel Power Mag about off road tires, and the MTZ are best for someone driving 70% on pavement, and still get good grass and dirt traction.
