Default iPod mount recomendations?

I put the iPod interface in, and tried just leaving the iPod in the glove box....
I don't like that.
the dongle runs from the interface to the area where the steering column is.
Does anyone here use a cradle to mount their iPod?
If so, can anyone tell me anything regarding the type that claim to attach to the HVAC vents? (that would be my best location, but not if it won't fit in my vents or not if it's gonna wreck the vent either.
I'd prefer not tho screw anything to the dash - and Minnesota doesn't allow windshield mounts (i'm travelling through Minnesota soon)..
('m not averse to removing a vent and screwing something alongside it inside the vent bezel where the screw holes wouldn't be visible after the vent is replaced.

You can get window mounts or cup holder mounts and yes they do have those vent mounts. Just go on ebay and buy a cheap one

What's wrong with leaving it in the glove box? It's out of sight, no wires and one less thing that might entice someone to break into your truck. My iPod wont let me use access the music when its plugged into the head unit anyway.

nothing wrong with leaving it in the glove-box at all, it's just I don't care for it that way.
My iPod and interface set-up still lets me operate it via it's touchpanel as well as track selection/ff-rw from the HU. I agree with the out-of-site, out-of-mind philosophy too.

But

It turns out I appreciate having access to the touchpanel features and would like to have them remain avaiable to me. This is why I'm pursuing the cradle/mount.

Well, I bought a Scosche IUH3 Vent-mount - and am I ever underwhelmed. I called their tech supt. line twice to two separate people (with vastly different accents) to tell me that the mount was compatible with vents that have vertical slats prior to driving 130 km one-way to get it... it isn't.

The on-line instructions show the vent clips as being rotatable, so I thought I'd just rotate them to make it fit - the instructions didn't show the vent clips as being on an offset mount, so as you rotate them, they go all askew. Plus, it wobbles a bit to much.

I'm glad it was only 20 bucks.
