can anyone tell me what this is used for, i just bought the truck last night and it was on the keyring.

I've seen those on rental cars, but I forget if they're an immobilzer or just inventory gadget.

Yeah I think they are an immobilizer also. Does it start without it? If not then you have your answer......

yes it starts with out it, not sure where it goes to see if there is already one one there, it was on the ring with the extra key.
