Default No Longer a 3rd Gen Owner/Proud 4th Gen Owner

Hey guys,

I traded in my 2006 Ram for a 2009 1500 Crew Cab SLT 4X4.
The reasoning was I really wanted a 4x4 truck and we had an extra vehicle that we never drove (2005 Mustang) so we traded the car and the truck for a shiny new-ish truck.
Other than that, the truck has the HEMI, 17 inch tires, the massive Crew Cab, tow package, not sure about gears, and it has 22k miles. It rides really smooth because of the rear coil suspension (I don't tow much so it's good for me). I paid ~28k for it. It retails for 33k. Still under manufacturer's warranty. Overall I think I made out really good with this deal getting the truck for almost 5k under retail.
And better than that, I kept my programmer (DSP Predator) which is compatible with the 4th gens.

Above is the link to my new truck. One thing confused me though. According to my build sheet I have the 3.55 open diff but the 4wd shifter *** shows 2wd, 4wd lock (high lock), 4wd low (low lock). How would the diffs lock if they are open diffs?

it locks the front differential, so instead of spinning 2wd your front wheels start spinning

a hub lock...remember going out and turning the **** on the hubs in older jeeps/yotas?

Yea I remember that. I read up on it and it just locks the driveshafts so the tires spin at the same time but since they are open diffs the power goes to the tire(s) that have the least resistance.

Yea I plan on getting some new tires in the next 10 thousand miles or so. Probably get Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus. Same thing that was on my old Ram and loved them! That or the General Grabber HTS. I heard those are better than some A/T tires!
