Default Critter Issues

I have been having a problem for the last several years that I was wondering if you guys could help me with...

My '02 Ram is parked outside (won't fit in my garage), and every winter mice make a home above my blower motor and the resistor that feeds it. I first noticed it a couple years back when my blower motor stopped working. I assumed it was shot so I got a new one. Upon removal a huge bunch of seeds, pine needles and foam fell out, and testing revealed that the motor still worked. I then discovered that the resistor had blown, because it was covered in foam insulation that the mice had chewed up inside the dash area.

Now every year I have to pull the motor and resistor, and try to get all the crap out of there. Of course the smell isn't too nice either.

Any ideas on how to keep the little b****ds out of there? I don't drive the truck everyday as I can't afford to commute in it, so I suppose that doesn't help any.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Greg

put a mouse trap in there lol umm obviously they are crawling up your tires to get there, so you can figure out something with the entry OR when they get there....the old nest leaves a pheromone that makes them want to come again so wash with vinegar really good

You could leave peppermint oil there which they hate but that would be time consuming probably....you could also put the sticky traps on your tires everynight

I cant think of something to do to that individual spot, in my opinion they could move to somewhere even worse in the motor if you just allow them to move

buy a cat? if you can block their entrance with steel wool or fine metal screen as they won't chew through that

Thanks guys...

I drive it during the winter but not daily unless it snows and I need the 4x4. Doesn't seem to take them long to set up shop.

The steel wool is a good idea if I could figure out where they were coming in. I like the peppermint oil as well. It would sure smell better than mouse urine...

Will sticky traps still be sticky when it's really cold outside?
