Default Good price for a Hemi?

Looking at a 2004 hemi with 293000kms, (182000miles), 4x4, 4 door. Guy is asking 8000 CA or 7600 US. Anyway haven't gone to look at it cause its about an hour and a half away. Good tires and brakes, immaculate interior, good body, no rust. Is it worth going to look at? can I tow with it? Thanks Jeff

The details are way too skimpy, but it's probably an OK deal. That is a lot of miles. Be prepared to put more into it, soon.

Sure you can tow with it. Why ask?

182k miles is a lot of miles to be buying a truck with...only a few make it to the 200k mark.

Iffy, most Mopar engines (especially V8s) can make it 200,000+ miles IF they have received proper care and maintenance, I'd get a compression test on the engine before pulling the trigger on it if it was me. If it shows good compression, I'd trust the engine, but it's not just the engine at that mileage. I firmly believe Dodge V8s are the best V8 engines on the planet, but the transmissions are not up to the same standard (although the 545rfe does seem to be the best tranny they've ever put out in a truck).

I'd look hard at ball joints, CV axles, tie rod ends, hubs (which are NOT greasable and must be replaced when the go), etc.

This $8k truck (which I think is a bit high with that mileage) can turn into a $11k truck if it needs the front end done soon, and can be a $13-14k truck if the tranny goes.

For that $13-14k around here, I can get into an '05 or '06 with 50-60k miles on it or even a late 2nd Gen CTD (which would be your ideal tow vehicle)...
