Default Frontend popping

so i started to have a popping song after my wife crashed my truck...... the steering rack blew shortly after and ever since the accident while turning sharp once there is a loud pop and the truck lunges like it just ran over a rock but has not... the front end was hit during the accident. i had it in for an alignment and figured firestone would be happy to tell me exactly what it was so the could try to do the work themselves. but they found nothing said they coul not recreate the problem haha it did it twice as i was pulling out of the parking lot. anyway your help would be appreciated. thanks mike

When I bought my truck, it would pop at least 4 times while turning the wheel from lock to lock. I replaced the ball joints and never looked back. Before replacing the ball joints a cursory check showed no play in the ones that were on there.

Yeah, it would be my opinion to take it to a shop that does front end work and alignments and let them check everything out for free. Then let them tell you what needs to be replaced and then let us tell you how to do it yourself for a fraction of the cost.

I did both upper and lowers on both sides. Uppers are really really easy if you replace the entire control are. Lowers aren't that bad if you have a press. The hardest part of the job imo is jacking the truck up and taking the tire off. Everything else just falls into place. I say that (and am on my blackberry so can't see where your from) probably because I don't have to worry about any rust/ corrosion issues. Good luck.
