Default monroe

2003 1500 quad cab

need new shocks. looking at monroe's.

Either Sensa-trac front and rear 37207 and 37208

front and back http://www.monroe.com/products/sensatrac_truck.asp

or

reflex front 911188 and rear sensa-trac level ride 58640

front http://www.monroe.com/products/reflex_truck.asp
rear http://www.monroe.com/products/sensa...justshocks.asp

don't quite understand why monroe.com would recommend a mixture of reflex and sensa-trac

only reason i would consider option 2 is that with my trailer it would help keep the truck level. I don't like using the weight distribution hitch for short trips, too much effort.

However I bet the ride height control rear sensa-tracs would make the ride stiff.

any thoughts appreciated. i bought monroes before, priced ok i think. about $43 each for the sensa-tracs. Little more for the reflex and sensa-trac in option 2.

i like the Monroe® Sensa-Trac® load adjusting shock absorbers, thats a good idea then you wouldn't need load air bags to to keep it level

I think you might be mis reading what Sensa-Trac® is doing. A shock does not adjust the ride hieght, unless it is a air-shock. Sensa-Trac® is adjusting it's valving to compensate for a heavier load. Heavier the load the stiffer the valving (shock). Simple solution is to install overload bags.

i understand what you are saying, however this shock http://www.monroe.com/products/sensa...justshocks.asp has that spring and it states that it helps keep the back from sagging. seems to me this shock would be rougher riding empty and loaded than the regular sensatrac.

Agreed, it is adding a spring to assist with a heavier load. But your ride hieght will be higher to begin with and not adjustable by the shock for the specific load. Probably a cheap easy way to add load capacity. Still recommend bags, pump them up when needed.
