Default Shaved tailgate?

I ran a bulldog hitch in the back of my tailgate last spring and it really did a number on it. I recently lowered it and got smaller tires and the gate is looking even worse as the trucks looking better. I found a tailgate for $100 and I'll have to paint it but I work at a bodyshop so paints no big deal. Is there an option for a shaved tailgate skin or would it be easier to have it shaved on this new tailgate? I haven't bought the tailgate yet but for $100 verses the $350 for a new tailgate with no guts I'll probably just buy it. I had mine sprayed with Proliner which sucks. Still like to just know what optins are there for a tailgate. I'd need a handle relocator. How about a rollpan with tag? I'd want a steel one and I do have the tow package but would rather do a hidden one behind the rollpan.

You have pretty much answered your own questions. When you buy the relocator it comes with a blank plate that can be welded in the outside handle hole. Your OEM hitch and cross member will have to be removed for the roll pan. I suggest a hidden hitch to brace the rear frame rails and of course to tow. There are two basic ways to install the roll pan. I have always welded mine in, but the shops I spoke with all wanted to screw it in for a couple of reasons. Easier, required less skill and the only good reason IMO that if (when) it is damaged it can again be replaced without going through the whole install process again. I'm old school so mine had to be welded. The tail gate is a bitch as it has to be asolutely perfect or the flaws readily will stand out. Do it right and your love it.

Edit: And I forgot the roll pans usually allow for the spare tire crank to be inserted. This make for a wider gap then I wanted so I also welded in a 3/4" piece to help fill the gap between the top of the roll pan and tailgate.

I want a welded rollpan and shaved tailgate, but haven't seen a lot of either. I have shopped thru FBI but they shut down so I hear.

Moe's has everything you need. Stylin, Summit also carries the parts to name a few.
