35's vs 295/70/17 on MPG
Believe it or else, size matters, but NOT near as much as the actual make-up of the tire. An aggressive, soft compound tread will negatively effect MPGs more than a larger tire size (within reason, of course turning 38s as opposed to 33s would be night/day)...
I've seen as much as a 4 mpg decrease when putting an aggressive A/T tire on SUVs I've had that were the same size as the stock, soccer mom tires I removed.
Conversely, I only had about a 1.5 mpg difference when I went from 33s to 35s on my truck...
