i drive an 05 dodge ram 4x4. 5.7l. what is the best programmer or whatever to get for my truck? i am thinking about getting the hypertech max energy. is that a good choice or no? what would be the best programmer to get for my truck? i dont wanna loose a lot of mpg. i would rather it go up or stay the same. i dont really wanna get an economy one but would one of those be good or a waste of money? sorry but i dont know much about performance mods all i have performance wise is a turn down exhaust. and i am probly getting a cai in a week or so. any other mods i could do for under $500 or so? i need to get the best bang for the buck mods.

Ive used a few programmers and the best one ive used is the diablosport predator. With it you can do your own tuning when you add mods.

 

do a search on here and you will find tons of info on programmer and performance mods.

I have used a DiabloSport Predator, Superchips 3865 and DiabloSport Trinity on my 05. All are good. From my experience the SC with the optional Advanced trans tuning has better transmission tuning and feel, but the Diablo's have slightly more power. The Diablo has the ability to custom tune, which can bring out the most in your truck and is essential if you get into mods like an aggressive cam or heads.

I like my trinity because of all of the ******* gauges, such as trans temp. It also flashes the tunes much faster than the SC or DSP.

As for other mods, get a good free flowing exhaust and a CAI can be made cheaply. After that, it depends on what you want to spend and what you plan to do with your truck.
