I Have a Question about Vehicle, and Workmanship.
It could be that some people choose not to voice their concern on Dodge Forum, or just choose to accept it. which i am not one, obviously.
I have no reason to doubt your word, when you say that you have come down hard on Chrysler....But, if this is the case, are the higher echelon of the company reading these forums to make the necessary improvements to the vehicles?
Just imagine, if the person in the ivory tower in charge of vehicle quality and workmanship, read these forums, and made the necessary adjustments to the vehicles weak points.............Would they not be the number 1 truck in America?

So nypanama, since you seem to know more than anyone else with your remarks, how do YOU know that these workers actually work on a dodge ram? What if this group of individuals work on the caravan, neon, or any other chrysler vehicle?
so to answer your question,
No....it takes more than about 10 guys to put together a vehicle, so blaming a flawed paint job and leaking rack on these guys is rather ignorant. There are thousands and thousands of workers there...
so to answer your question,
So after seeing the video, of course I would wonder whether one of these morons put my vehicle together. Wouldn't you?
Have you read posts on this forum? I find it hard to believe our members are uniformly NOT griping about paint issues if they are having them. C'mon man, you can do better than that!
If I'm not mistaken, I believe the paint is covered by the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty. Did you attempt to remedy this situation during this time or did your paint issues appear after the vehicle was 3 years old?
By not being one to accept it, what was your final resolution?
I'm sorry man, I feel for ya'. Sucks to have your paint fade and peel on you, but I just have NOT seen where it's a common issue.
Personally, I understand that I don't reside in Never-Never Land and ALL vehicles have their strong points and weak points. I weigh them out before purchasing and go about making the weak points that I feel will effect the vehicle adversely a strong priority when I plan what modifications I will undertake. Hence, one of the things I did to my truck was have the LSD replaced - LONG BEFORE it could become an issue.
It would be great if someone made a perfect vehicle and then could sell it at a price that a common man could afford. But the reality is that there ain't a brand out there that doesn't have issues.
Hell, the space shuttle was built and is maintained by some not much different from those in your little news clip. Some VERY highly overpaid people and they still build the thing with over a million parts ALL PURCHASED BY LOW BID! It's little wonder the things have launch delay after launch delay and two have blown up.
Yeah Panama, there is a problem when auto workers out there make over $70 an hour on average in salary and benefits and still have NO pride in their work when teachers in some states don't make $30k a year. But that problem goes WAY beyond a single automaker.

Interesting comment ram man. My question to you is, "How do we know they Didn't work on a Dodge Ram, at one time or another"? Surely, you are not naive enough to believe that this was an isolated incident.
The News reporter indicated that they had been following, and taping this group all week. So I don't think this was a isolated incident.
please point out to me, in my comments, or remarks as you stated, where i stated i knew more than anyone else.
I never professed to know everything. I own a Dodge Ram, and I posted / started a discussion on the topic shown above.
I think the Chief Executive Officer, and many others within the organization will appreciate the fact that a customer is voicing his concerns on this forum, as opposed to somewhere else more public, which would really give the Chrysler brand a black eye.

So YES, i feel like it was a waste of good, hard earned money.
If the paint had started peeling, 15 years after, or even 8 years after i purchased it, I wouldn't be on here ranting.
But hey, like you said, no one makes a perfect vehicle, and with that I'll leave it alone.

Continuing the tradition, I drink all the time when I work on my truck. I try to stay sober when working on my wifes car though. I need her to make it home safe to cook dinner.
J/K , Honestly though it is disturbing but probably very common. Years ago a friend of mine had a severe rattle in the door of a new car he had purchased. I am pretty sure it was a buick. After the dealer told him he was hearing things for a few weeks they pulled the door panel and found an empty beer can wedged in there.

I actually agree with alot of your remarks NYPanama, and I think alot of the responses to your posts have been at you/your information rather than the immediate issue brought up in the original post.
Hammer, not arguing but I have seen quite a few rust bubble issues lately, even on later model trucks. Not an epidemic, and im on 5 forums, but ive seen a few every month or so. I doubt this is due to pot smoking and drinking though, as you said, the paint is automated
Panama, there is no doubt that this affects workmanship. But this happens in EVERY profession. 6-14% of nurses are chemically impaired at work (just talked about this yesterday). This happens in EVERY profession in EVERY country.
IMO this is what the 3/36 is for. Most likely, whatever they mess up on will come about in 3 years. A loose bolt, a poorly installed dash, etc. Im sure some things can happen and pop up after this, but it seems like the work that HUMANS actually do would show up in that time. Now the common problems in our trucks are ENGINEERING issues, not factory worker issues. There isnt a little drunk gremlin running around putting retaining clips in our pumpkins
