So, I am new to the truck scene and the dodge scene. I am getting ready to pick up a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT with the 4.7l V-8 with about 174k miles on it from my friend. I have already downloaded the service manuals and part catalogs, and looked at the planned maintenance schedules. I know he kind of slacked on the maintenance so, I figured that I should go ahead and do everything that's listed under the the 120k on the maintenance schedule which is pretty much changing all the fluids, and filters, but I didn't know if there was anything else that I need to pay attention to or look at?

Thanks again.

Yep, I'd give it a full once over. All the fluids, plugs, EGR, clean the throttle body, check brake pads, etc.

A guy I know just hit 250,000 miles on the 4.7 in his '99 Grand Cherokee, so with proper care and maintenance, there is no reason to believe you shouldn't get some good use out of your "new" ride...

That would be great to hit that or more, I plan on using the truck as a dd and road tripping, with slight towing every now and then. But thank you for your input.
