Father-in-law says I can't put a plow on my '03 1500
Mine is as well and while it's tough to handle the snowblower because it grabs every high spot, I fear a plow would do lots of damage to it, so that is why I paid $1400 for a snowblower vs buying a used plow and on top of that, my neighbor and brother-in-law both offered to do my driveway for free. I'll stick to the snowblower, beside's it'll do a better job of cleaning compared to a 7.5' wide blade that will miss alot of dipped/highspotted areas.
I have thought about stealing my dads tractor for the winter to do my driveway. Back scrapping with the tractor would be quick too. I'm looking at all the options I can.
Its possible but be careful like everyone else said dont be pushing mounds of snow but it will be ok if you are easy on it i've saw a few dakota with a plow there is even a guy on here with a plow on his so if a dakota can do it a ram def can. Remember plowing is not a race so going slow and taking your time is the best I would never want to buy one of our plow trucks we beat the crap out of them but I guess its ok since they are chevys lol
Oh please... Our 4.7s put out more power than the only 5.2s and there are more than enough of those running around with Plows.
5.2
230 hp @4400 rpm
300 ft. lbs. (407 N.m) @ 3200 rpm
4.7
235 HP SAE @ 4,800 rpm
300 ft lb
Mine was more of a sarcastic response as well, but I guess I didn't word it correctly. This "inter-web thing" some times makes it tough to get that across.
Most important question is what size/brand plow?
I know a couple guys who plow commercial grade with half tons but they are running smaller Fisher/Meyers/Western plows on them. Aside from the obvious having to do front end maintenance more frequently they are doing fine.
There's nothing saying you can't put the plow on (especially not if its just for private use) just make sure you drop the plow off your truck when not in use to avoid unnecessary stress on your front end.
I would never dream of putting my 8'2" Boss V-Blade on a half ton but a smaller straight blade sure.

Sorry, I really don't know anything about plows. I never intended to put a plow on the truck. I only spoke to one local place that didn't have anything in the book for me.
I'd love to get a quad with a plow, but around here, the most beat up used quads still cost more than a solid pickup. And the plows seems to cost just as much between the two.
I am looking at a second lawn mower with a snow thrower. My current rider isn't able to take an attachment, but I see a lot of older ones on craigslist with snow thrower attachments in the $650 range.
