Don't use cruse control. I pulled a guy out of the ditch (filled with snow) once on the Coke because he was in cruse (he was in a Ram and I had an F-150 at the time). Also slow down before you get to the snow shed the road narrows in there and lots of ice.

I'm not sure I beleive that too much. I've put 173000km on my 04 2500 and 70000km on my 04 1500, and I had them in 4x4 most of the winter doing normal highway speeds (100-120km/hr) with absolutely no issues to report. I bought a 4x4, and I intend to use it to help keep me on the high-grade.

this is what I wanted to know. I figure why have a 4x4 if you can only use it after you start slipping

When you start slipping it is too late to use 4x4 . I put 4Lock when I reach snow covered road, even if this only 1 cm of snow.

worked great. I put it in 4wd a little before due to very very heavy rains and drove with it on all the way until it was sunny. Worked great. I did notice however that going over 50mph was a challenge for it.

Also used the 4wd again yesterday due to super heavy rains for a few minutes.
