Ive got a 2003 quad cab ,auto with 5.9 gas motor and just wanted to get some feedback on where and what engine mods where available. It seems like everytime i ask at a parts store they laugh at me and say none they cna find available. Any advice would be much appreciated

 

tuner, intake, efan, and exhaust is a good start. search around in the 2nd gen section for a lot of good info.

 

Actually, I'd opt for a Superchips tuner. Close to 50 HP and 60 TQ gains for a simple, plug-in that takes 20 minutes to install without tools is kinda hard to beat...

I highly rec the SCT tuner.. I've never used a superchips, so I really can't speak for it.. the SCT by hemifever is the single best mod done imHo- barely edging gears.. it's best quality is not the actual engine tuning (again imHo), but the elimination of the torque management programming..

fwiw- I have a third gen truck, but also have the 5.9L, and I hang out in the second gen board more often than here because it pertains to us a little more..

I didnt know how much a chip would help me since my truck had the carb looking injection ,not a mulitpoint injection and no throtle bodie. I have really thought at times they just used up what was laying around to build my truck, but its a 03 with 60,000 miles that gets driven about once a month so its a perfect mans toy to build. Sorry for lack of proper termination on parts but i am having a brain fart today,. But thanks for all the help i really do appreciate it.

 

Ok my brain fart was worse than i thought it does have a throttle body,guess i need more coffee. sorry guys.
