Default 3rd Gen Hemi 1500/2500 buying guide

Have a friend looking into a new truck. I have 2nd gen covered, but when he is looking for trucks I can't really help much for the 3rd gens. Is there a thread somewhere you guys compiled for a buying guide?

Thanks,
Greg

So you are telling me there are no "common" problems with 3rd gens like there is with 2nd's?

I did run across this thread here...

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/3rd-gen...e-posting.html

But is that all the 3rd gen problems that exist?

How well do the transmissions hold up (mileage)? Do 1500/2500 auto have the same transmissions like 2nd gen?

I didn't take you original question as wanting to know common issues. Our transmission in the third generation is a 545rfe and there are lots with high mileage and some blows with low mileage. This is no different than any manufacturer. Mine has 78k and has been modified and tuned and run hard and no issues. My cousin has a brand new Jeep with less than 10k and they just replaced the engine last weekend.

Gotcha, yeah I ment buying guide as in.... "if your looking at a 3rd gen, what do you look for". Seems like the transmissions life is comparable then. So there isn't anything else to look for? Sounds good.
