I'm going Oryx hunting by myself and need a method for lifting it into my Ram. I saw some truck cranes online but they were expensive and not exactly what I wanted, so I am going to build one.

I have a 3000 lb 12 volt winch I am going to use on it. Anyone ever build one? Comments on this design? I already have all the metal and parts.

 

I dont know about the winch/pulley setup. Why dont you just get one of those winches like on a boat trailer? Trying to dumb it down for you.

are you going to make it removable or what? You could mount square tubing like a vertical "hitch" out of your bed and just slide the upper part in. That way it was just one pin to lift it out.

Its a fairly simple thing, I wouldnt try and overdo it.

 

It will be removable and store in a duffle bag. I wanted the electric winch because you cannot drive off road at White Sands missile range and thought it may come in handy for dragging. I will definitley think about the manual winch.
