Question Gear Labor?

For you guys that paid someone to swap gears on your truck (4x4), how much did it cost you? I'm ready for 4.56 gears and would like to get this done for a reasonable price. I'm going to shop around for gears so hopefully I can find someone that will install the parts that I buy. I would love to try this myself, but I'm a little worried I'll be in over my head and I really don't have the time since the new engine install. Also, the weather here will suck for another month.

Another question...Is there any shame in grabbing a lightly used Trac-Lok differential while I'm at it (if I can find it super cheap)? I would love to buy an Auburn LSD but it's just not in the budget. I know a lot of you guys say the trac-loks are crappy, but it's gotta be better than "stuck" right? Thanks for any input

I have paid anywhere from $780-$1200. It depends on whats all involved. Look into the shop to make sure they know what they are doing. It pays to take it to a shop that does nothing but drive lines. Having a nice quite, smooth rear end is something most take for granted. It really F***ed if its done wrong.
