Default Air Bag Kits - What's Good?

Hi All, Newb to the forum. Long time trucker and currently own a 2004 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi w/cold air intake and cat-back.

I'm looking for a good air bag kit. Heard of Firestone and found AirBagit.com that looks good. They give some valid sounding reasons why they are the best.

Any other suggestions? I'll proly not install a pump, just a t-fitting and valve and carry a portable pump.

Just bought an 18' toy hauler that is 4800 UVW and ~7000 GVWR. Towed it home using leveler bars but we were feeling every bump and seam on the highway. Never been impressed with stock 1500 suspension.

I've got the Air Lifts myself. I set out to get the Firestones but a buddy of mine in the auto/tire repair biz in farm country (where everyone has bags) told me he'd seen a lot of the Firestone bags failing. So I went with his recommendation. Mine been on for 5 years now with no problem...

Don't know too much about the AirBagits. Most guys around here haven't had a problem with the Firestones, but a few guys in the 4th Gen Ram section have had some Firestone bag failures and some bad support from the company after the sale...

Welcome to the site. Yeah Airbagit has a good selection and Ive seen a few guys run those Firestone setups. I think you are on the right track. The good thing about running an onboard compressor is you have a storage tank and can use it on your tires if needed.

Thanks. I called AirBagit and got 15 min worth of advice. Probably order from them soon. One thing that sold me was they sell larger dia bags which take less pressure to fill and have a smoother ride. Also, remove a couple leafs. I need to check how much room I have before I order. Probably get the 3" lift as well.

Compressor will be in the future but I like the idea of being able to fill my tires away from home.

Depends on the quality of air that goes in them....if there's moisture in your air supply than actual water will build up in there.

Agreed, anyone with a bagged setup will run moisture accumulators and separators.

I think I like the Firestone air bags better. I found them from Suspension Connection for 269 shipped and you don't have to drill. They install into existing holes in the frame. Anybody use these and can confirm that?

I used them in my 02 1500 QC. Firestone ride rite. Were awesome I would be able to pump them up to 60psi or more and haul just about anything or would use the back of my air gauge and deflate them when empty to soften the ride. Had them for a couple of years, before I just traded for my 07 2500 Hemi. No problems. If I still had them, I would have gone to the compressor kit with monitor setup in cab.
