Default 03 Hemi tuner?

I'm a new member and have a couple questions. I read some of the 200+ pages of superchips thread. I have a 03 1500 hemi, and want to add some power and MPG. I will tow a 21' bass boat weekly with it also. Auto, 4x4 quad-cab, 3.92 gears.
Can someone give me a quick course on the superchip 3865 programmer. What tunes it has, are they just pick one or is it customize this or that? Does it mod the tranny at all or is that the add on option? Looking for some quick facts with some details on the tuner, and some other known upgrades that make for better performance and mileage gains.
Lastly, what do most of you guys get mileage wise with average driving(towing or not)?
Thanks...

The PCM and TCM in the '03s are separate units. The programmers don't talk to both. In later years they are different, one programmer controls both computers. Makes the chip not worth the money, IMO.

Superchips model 3815 is best for the 03 because it cannot tune the TCM but rather only the PCM. As said above the PCM and TCM are separate so even if you did get the model 3865 it still wouldnt work.

The tuner comes with what is called "canned" tunes which are basic pre-setup generic tunes for the truck. You pic one (performance, mileage or towing) and it tunes it. You can use them to read CELs/MILs and read the DTC codes. You can also use them to change the tire size on the truck so the speedo is right.

So the 3865 is the only thing SC shows on their site, but it does nothing to the tranny or shifting at all?

Correct, nothing at all....but there is a thread around here involving pulling the tpm wire from the PCM, which gives you firmer shifts
