Default Off Road Lights

I was considering mounting a pair of off road lights behind the grill and was wondering if these were a good option. Dick Cepek has always been a reputable name and these seem like a pretty good price too. Would really like your opinions, I also think the way I would like to wire them is for them to be tied into the high beams so when I use my high beams they come on also.

I bought a couple of sets maybe a year and a half ago. But 130 watt, and in stainless. One set in 6", the other 5". Good lights, very bright and in stainless they still look good as new. I know a couple guys bought them in chrome to save a couple of bucks and they started pitting and showing rust on them.
My only complaint is the mounting hardware is cheazy. The base is not stainless like the light itself and that, the included washers and nuts are rusting out already.

Try to find the stainless ones and then paint the base or at least coat it with clear or lacquer or something and replace the hardware with stainless and they will be fine...

"... bought the container from the factory after the company closed ..." Sounds a pinch risky. Don't forget you'll need a relay ($8 or so). I suspect those just have the DC name.

I'm not real crazy about the chrome look anyways being as they will be mounted behind the grill. I though if I did get them I might just plasti-dip the housings. Do you think the plasti dip would hold up to the heat ok?

At the time I bought mine, I looked into it a little. Supposedly the same company who makes the KC Daylighter makes these. Very easy to believe as I've installed both and they are identical.
Story was, Mickey Thompson/Dick Cepek was bought out by Cooper Tire, who only wanted the tire business. The Mickey and Cepek branded off-road accessories went bye-bye...

Oh hell yeah, I've made CAIs for people and painted them with Plasti-Dip.

Only problem you may run into is the depth, they are pretty deep. Hella 500s are the norm for behind the grill, although at 55 watts they are not near as bright. You can always get Hellas and goto 100 watt bulbs though...

Did you wire them in with your high beams or on a switch?

There are a lot of these threads about this same thing... pretty common lately

I have the Hella 500FF's behind my grill. They are awesome, and come with all the wiring/relay/switch/connectors, etc. It is a complete set up so you don't have to piece it all together.
