What size exhaust pipes - 2.25 or 2.5?

What size exhaust pipes - 2.25 or 2.5?
I'm looking to buy a dual exhaust system for my 5.7. I've seen several advertised with 2.5" and 2.25" pipes. Which one will net me the most performance? My truck is stock other than a K&N Intake set up.
