Cracked Dash
Mine must have been an early 04 model cause my dash is falling apart. It just started a couple weeks ago and if you touch the dash it will break. Well not the dash but the defrost grill in front of the dash.
I've got a 2003 Ram 1500 SLT Reg Cab and wanna order a new dash cover. Can anybody tell me what color I have/need to replace it with? The trim code on the inside of the door reads M9DV Its either a black or dark grey?
I have a 2003 Ram QC 4x4. Same issues, cracked dash. I just got off the phone with Dodge customer service. NO help. Said they were sorry, blah blah blah. How are folks getting reimbursed for this issue? Dodge should step up to the plate and handle this issue.
Please tell me about your dash cover . How long did it take to recieve after you ordered. How hard was it to install? Are you satisfied? The site says for my 2003 2500 (1500 is the same ) 1/2 dash (main dash ) $128.99 shipped. Thanks for your help.
My truck is also a 2003 ram 1500 reg cab long box. not sure what the trim model is though because tailgate was replaced without trim pieces. my "trm" also reads m9dv. does that mean its also slt?
LMC Truck is the cheapest I found. I got my new DASH today (2 pcs) for $359.xx. NOT cover the ACTUAL DASH. UV inhibiting dye and more flexible resin the dash is made from. I just wanted to add that for an extra $80.00 you can have the real thing instead of a cover.
Too bad it couldn't be some sort of a safety issue prompting a recall (if an air bag deployed the defective dash pieces could possibly be sent through the passenger compartment). I'm sure that angle has been discussed already. Just too bad Chrysler didn't make it right.
First post - I'm a New Guy. Just bought a much-used '01 4X4 Base 2500. The first thing that happened after getting it home was that the glove box fell off. The hinges on the dash and the "pins" on the box door all broke or were previously broken. I had heard about the "self-destructing" dash problem and the replacement parts from LMC Truck, but the part(s) that I see also deteriorating do not seem to be available from a dealer or the aftermarket. If this is such a widespread problem, then a part from a salvage yard is probably toast, too? Has anyone had experience in dealing with this?
