Question 02' RAM - 98' motor

I have a 02 RAM 3.7; I think the engine may be blown. I have been trying to find out if a 98' v8 motor will go in the 02 body style. Does anybody know?

What engine is it? 3.9, 4.7, 5.2, 5.9? A 4.7 would be the easiest swap to do from a 3.7.

I have heard of people having the same problems withe the 02' 4.7 that I have with the 3.7. I would like to drop in the older v8 but I don't know if I will have to swap the trans as well. Hopefully it will bolt up does any one know?

Oh yeah, you'll have to swap the trans in too.
Our 5.2 and 5.9 engines had the 46RE trans which is notorious for killing itself.
You will need the PCM from the older truck too....and wiring....
It would be too much work to me, but hey, it's your money, your time, your truck, your decision.

^^ what he said, and with the different tranny you would need a driveshaft, you didn't state if you had a 4x4, if you did you would probably need the donor trucks transfercas etc..... alot of money would be spent when you could probably get a crate motor for your truck and just put it in.
