What is realitic fuel economy for 2500
WOW!!! I just did a quick check of the ads from saturday, local paper has a complete auto section on saturdays. Looks like '06 1500 4x4 Hemis are about $15k at dealers on average. there are four of them in the paper anywhere from 78k to 112k miles on them. I don't see a 2500 gasser newer than '03, but there is an '07 CTD 6.7 (which I ain't crazy about, would much rather find a cherry 5.9), they are asking $23k for with 51k miles, obviously the price is indicative of the low miles. Is an '04 with 158k miles for $17,500. Both 4x4s.
But yeah, I can remember when I lived in NY, used diesels were at a premium up there too...

See, thats just it. That truck is two years older than mine, has 91,000 MORE miles, and is still a grand more than I paid. But yes, I know, comparing a cummins to a hemi is the same as comparing apples to oranges.
That 07 sounds like a spankin deal, though, for that low of miles with the cummins... even if it is the 6.7
Yeah, but if taking into the old "standbye" that a properly maintained gas engine yields about 150,000 miles on average and a properly maintained diesel yields 350,000 miles on average, that '04 has 109,000 miles LESS on it than your truck, LOL...
I'm trying to figure out why my overhead display says 9.9 mpg no matter where I'm driving. Just took a 200 mile road trip and it didn't change once. I'm running stock 17's with 315's k&n air filter, 2.5" leveling kit, and flowmaster catback. Just replaced the o2 sensors and gas cap and cleaned the throttle body to take care of cel. Is this normal, is my overhead wrong?
Have you reset the thing? If it's never been reset and is showing an avg. of 9.9 mpg over 100,000 miles, it's gonna take a long time getting significantly different mileage for that number to change...

My truck at 9300 miles and 3.5yrs old would be priced at $23,999 on a dealer lot. I see 07's with 20kmi more priced at that all the time around here.
I pulled some out of my local craigslist;
The diesels are going for:
'07 w46kmi $30k
'05 w/88k $27k
'08 MC 16kmi lift/tires $41.5k
'08 w/30k $31
Looks like $6-8kmi is the average since they are getting alot for the 1500's.
I think you read it the very first time but have looked past it since...haha

Also, your overhead display IS NOT COMPLETELY ACCURATE. It's a proximity mpg estimator. You really need to put a portfolio together of gas slips. Compile 10 full tankfuls of your everyday driving reciepts and average the mileage and gallons of gas together. This will yield you much better results than reading the overhead console or reviewing mileage tank by tank. I see alot of guys doing that and the fluctuation is too much and nets people all different numbers.
