Default Turn my 1500 into a 2500?

I looking to buy a trailer that exceeds my trucks tow rating but does not exceed the rating of a 2500. From what I understand the 1500 megas are just about the same as a 2500 .... so what do I need to change to make it a 2500? Can I just replace the rear leafs and front coils and have the same tow rating or is there a little more to it.

buy new 2500 series badges... I honestly don't think there is a difference from what I've read.. I think the only issue is gonna be the GVWR and such that even though your truck technically is a 2500 you could still get in trouble for being over the weight limit.. at least that's how I understand it but I might be wrong.

With the VIN# of a vehicle with an insufficient tow rating, you'll still be running illegally and be susceptible to a fine not to mention if you happen to have a mishap, your insurance can refuse to pay...

The easiest way to turn a 1500 into a 2500 is to follow these simple steps.....

Find a buyer for your 1500

Buy a 2500

It's that simple!

Depends on your registry office, when we registered my dad's truck they asked for a tow rating (they were clueless) we said 40,000 lbs. Might be able to get it bumped up at the DMV

A 1500 mega cab is a 2500 Ram with a 1500 badge. With the on slaught of solid axle related death wobble issues, outter tire rod issues, Ball joint issues, and non serviceable u joints on the 2500 Rams I would not be eager to re consider a dodge heavy duty truck.

My 06 2500 has not had major issues with front solid axle supension issues, How ever thier are chronic Rams that are earning the Ram into any thing name.

If you're towing I'd look into a steering box brace, some say it helps a whole lot with death wobble. Replace your joints with Moog greaseable ones. Non-greasable u-joints are a lot stronger without the zerk. Less life but much less likely to fail completely.
