I ended up making the deal. they gave me 4500 for my dakota and I talked them down to 7k out the door. so far Im loving this truck. The only thing Ive noticed is that it may have the "hemi tick"... sounds kinda like an exhaust manifold bolt broken or something... hopefully thats it and its not more serious.

 

and an exh manifold bolt is usually what it is.

can you remove the torque management with an SCT tune? it already bugs me. Im not used to having torque and I wanna use it dammit.

 

just called my exhaust guy... im having him cut off everything after the cats and run 3" with a single flowmaster 40... stock side exit with a 3 1/2 inch slash cut tip... its gonna sound mean.

 

A lot of people on this forum say that flowmaster isn't what it's cracked up to be. Rusts out, worse flow than stock...a lot of guys here have Magnaflow(myself included). Just my two bits.

 

Im not going to get into the age-old muffler argument here, but it was somewhere on this forum in one of the stickies I was reading about popular muffler brands flow ratings or something like that, and flowmaster 40's (although not the best in flow numbers by far) was still much better than stock. Seemed as though dynomax ultra flow had the highest rating... higher than strait pipe. How that happens, I dont know.. but apparently its true. I just like the sound of flowmasters.. plus you dont have to wait for them to "break in" like the various types of glasspacked mufflers out there... you get that rumble right away. As far as durability, it cant be any worse than my dynomax catback I had on my dakota... rusted away to nothing in a matter of 2 years.

 

Yep, I have put Flowmasters on every single vehicle I have owned. I have always made great power with Flowmasters and have never once had a rust problem although I do live in a part of California that gets about .5" of rain a year. I too ignore all the muffler banter as you said the Flowmaster outflows a stock muffler any day. I love how my flowmasters sound. FWIW, I put a 14" Oval Maggie on my F150, and although it flowed well, it didn't have the rumble that I want from my truck. Flows FTW
