Default Tonneau cover

just wondering if anyone has any experience with Tonneau covers. looking for some pros and cons of the soft top vs. hard and when it comes to the hard top ones painted fiberglass vs. the generic black plastic ones. did you have an issue with whatever brand you bought i.e. crap customer service, did the hydrolic arms fail on you, etc.

not that i expect it, but any chance of mpg increase.

Thanks

I have a retrax cover. Its made of plastic ribs and has lasted me now into my second truck. I've said it a few times, I wouldn't own a truck without one!!

I have a Trifecta by Extang 1 800 877 2588
http://www.extang.com/docs/trifecta.html
I think its great.I do construction and I'm always open and closing that thing and no cracks yet..easy on, easy off ,if you half to remove it..Just keep in mind that you will need a foam pad or something to protect the paint on top of the bed rail..I have line x and it runs on top of my bed rail so I have no problems.
hope all helps.

Personally, I have the Extang Solid Fold truck bed cover. I got it from Empire Covers.com. Its made of aluminum, so its strong but still lightweight.

I like having a hard top, but thats mainly because I live in a neighborhood of Philadelphia where theft is an issue, and since a soft top can easily be cut, I prefer the extra protection with a hard top.

I have the Dodge brand "tonneua" cover. It came with my 2007 1500. I do like having the cover, it does come in handy when I am hauling around tools. Not secure but everyone doesnt see what you have. I really dont like any type of cover on any pick up truck. I take mine completly off and leave it off unless I know im going to need to use it. It comes off or on in about 3 minutes. It has padding all around the bottom of the metal rails. It hasn't left any marks on the bed rails. I have done fuel several experiments both with and without the cover on. I drive 112 miles a day for my commute. I have determined that there is no difference in the milage.
