No clue hat kind of cat to get Please Help!!
dang that sucks bro, but swapping them out for inspection is a great idea but it does seem kinda of a pain doing it over and over. Reefguy is right, get some flanges to make it easier on swapping pipes.... thank god i live in southern Idaho feeew (no emissions)
Not header related, but my cousin in upstate NY failed inspection last fall because he had electric cut-outs installed. Even though with them closed, everything passes thru the cats and muffler fully 100% to stock specs, just having the ability to open the cut-outs and by-pass the cats was a fail, at least in his county.
He basically had to pay $350 to undo a $600 exhaust job to pass inspection. The thing most upsetting about this is the fact that the exhaust shop was in his county and they had to fully know that selling him the cutouts and installing them was gonna be a fail, but did not feel it necessary to mention this when he contracted them to do the work. They covered their a$$ though, on his quote, in small writing was something that stated to the effect that the quote was given as per the customers specifications and burden of passing inspection was on the customer and not on the shop...

ok so I went with my friend to get his truck inspected today since he just bought it, 99 ram 1500, and all they did was hold a sensor over the hood and behind the tail pipe and plug in something. no opening the hood or looking under the truck. So I'm going for it and most likely ordering tonight or tomorrow. but I just need to pick out the right cat, this is the one from my previous post http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-94169/ is this good for my truck, sorry I no nothing about cats really. And one last question, I think that I will need to extend or get a longer rear O2 sensor for after the cat, where can I get one online because that is a total blank for me? Are there different kinds?
sorry for the long post and thanks for all the help you guys.

go to a hardware store and buy a spool of wire and solder your own extensions, don't use crimp ons. I extended mine about 14" from a spool of about $3 wire and they've worked fine for over 5 years that my headers have been on...
I would love to be able to do that but 2 things like I said earlier.
1. The previous owner already put on a custom exhaust on so I have no clue what is stock and what isn't.
2. he had the y pipe welded to part of the heat shield cover instead of the pipe so I cannot reuse it, trust me I've looked at every option.
I just want to know if that one in the link would be a good choice or if it is like the wrong kind or something.
