Default is there any reasonable way to fix this

So I had a little custom exhaust put on my 03 Ram hemi. Basically, i bought a flowmaster 40 and a 3 1/2 inch stainless tip and told the exhaust guy to just cut off the stock muffler and put the new muffler on and weld an extra piece in to take up the extra space from the stock muffler. Everything is good except for one thing. The guy just tack welded the tip over the stock tip. i kept hearing a rattle whenever the truck was around 1500 RPMs. I searched for where it could be rattling and came to the conclusion that the only possible thing that it could be comming from is that the stock tip must be rattling inside of the new tip. Since this is tack welded on, is there any way to get it off without destroying my nice stainless tip? My only thought would be to cut it off, put it in a vice, heat up the tack welds and try to pull the stock tip out from the new tip... or could a better weld take care of the problem? Its really not that big of a deal... but it really annoys me. Id hate to have to order a new tip just because the guy was too lazy to make a cut and do a real weld. Its times like this I wish I wouldve learned how to weld myself.

Take it back to him, tell him what is going on and tell him to fix it the right way. Simple "clean hands" solution. You paid him for a service, one that he executed poorly.

Crawl under your truck and keep hitting your exaust with the side of your fist till you find the rattle, but I'd definately take it back.If he's a reputable shop he'll take care of the problem...

Sorry forgot the tip,If he only tacked it on in a few places a cut-off wheel thru the welds will work then it can be re-welded at the same spots. If he ran a bead all the way around that could be a different story, but i would take it back regardless...
