I have a chance to pick up a 3815 programer.
Good unit or should i try for a 3865?

 

I have a 3815. Works ok for the basic stuff. If you want advanced options for the Transmission you will want the 3865. If you just want the basic engine tuning, shift point adjustments a bit of logging it works perfectly ok. The guys at Superchips still support it. I just moved mine from an 04 1500 4.7L to an 07 2500 Hemi. They had to do a bit of work to get it to talk to the 07 truck, but they worked through it. Took us a couple weeks back and forth, so be patient.
Make sure it is not locked to a previous owners vehcile, as they charge something like 80 or 100 to unlock it. That plus what you pay for it will almost get you a new one direct from Superchips. If you can get it for around $100 and its unlocked, then its a good deal.

I would like to try MDS off and on if this unit will do it.
They are asking $100 and say it is unlocked.
I wish the superchips site had more info on the differences between the units.

So which has the speedo calibrate, the 3815 or the 3865? Also what is MDS? (Mallery Distributer)?
