Default 4.56's or not?

The question I have for you guys on the forum is: Is it worth putting 4.56 gears in my truck? I have a 2003 2500 HD with 4.10 gears in it now and 315/70/17 tires.I'm getting around11-12 mpg back and forth to work, hilly terrain, almost like city driving. Will they help with my mpg or not on the highway? Also will they give me more bottom end while towing, like when I pull out?

Maybe, but that's a small change. It'll take a long time to break even. Is that a 4x4? If so, you'll never break even.

Yeah ,I know its not much of a change, but I would like to have a little more **** pulling out when I'm towing . Not so much worried about mpg then.

Well, 4.56s will give you a bit more low-end grunt, but for $2K, it won't be cheap and it still won't be much. Might be better to get smaller tires.
