Mega Cab 1500 - 35x12.5 leveled
Hi All, (first post)
Apologies if there is a clear answer for this that I'm missing some where (I've searched and searched).
I just bought a 2006 Mega Cab 1500 5.7 and I'm looking to beef it up a bit. It's going to be my daily driver for the next couple of years, so I don't want to go too big, or too tall (yet).
I've settled on the 3" Kore HP kit, and 35x12.5 tires - my dilemma comes with the wheels.
I don't want to keep the stock 17" wheels. (Note that since this is a Mega Cab, it has the 2500 wheel/chassis/8-lug bolt pattern). I like the look of the after market flares and the tires sticking out a bit, but from what I've been reading, so people are saying to go with less backspacing (ie 4.5" or so) to stick the tires out, and that I wont have much if any rub. Others are saying to stick as close to the stock backspacing as possible, and that less backspacing will cause a lot of rubbing.
My ultimate question is, on a 1500 Mega with a 3" kit, what's my 'safe' zone for backspacing and fitting 35x12.5 tires?
Any photos and info on the set up will help a great deal.
Thanks in advance, I've already learned a lot here & am looking forward to getting to know these forums, (used to be active on jk-forum before I rolled the jeep)
Much appreciated,
Dave

Thanks Rich,
I did try to search, over and over again - I've read countless threads on fitment, however I'm finding a lot of posts that are contradicting each other - so I'm trying to get a more clear answer.
I also did read the wheel&tire fitment post, however for the 2500 models, there is no elaboration for backspacing so I'm still looking.
I understand that any posts on the forum are just a guide, but I'm just trying to have a better grasp on what will/won't fit before I spend.
Thanks for the help.

I have the exact same truck. I put a 3" leveling kit from Hell Bent Steel with 5100 series Bilstein shocks. Everything was perfect until I turned the wheels. The stock rim with the 35" tire was rubbing against my axles control arm. I bought Dick Cepek Torque wheels ( 17" w/ 4.5" backspacing ). No more rubbing with the 35" tires, not even when I hit a driveway turning full.
I have a bunch, but this web site keeps telling me that they are too big or the wrong type. I guess I'm just not as good on the computer as I am at working on trucks. I can e-mail you what I have if this would help.
