started on getting the rot out. not too bad so far. It looks like all the mud, water, etc. gets thrown in between the inner and outer skins and lays in the middle of the fender right above the center of the tire. when i got into it, i was pulling out wet mud and small rocks (and i don't even really go mudd'in.) it seems like there are two holes (factory) on the inside of the wheel well perfectly positioned to be filled with moister, water, mud and it has no where to drain. going to finish up tomorrow. as far as painting, i'm going to spray it with the rattle can and if the patch (fiber glass) holds, i plan on some fender flares to cover the DIY paint job. wish me luck.

which type of patch are you talking about. The patch that bondo makes or is it a different kind? I'm assuming its like fiberglass drywall tape?

I just bought a 02 1500 sport and the paint is just starting to bubble on the drivers side. Looks like I'll be doing this to soon. Other then that the truck is great shape and runs really good.

i have the same thing on my 04, tiny little bubbles and i can see a speck of rust coming through one of them. looks like i'll need to get a small blaster and some fiberglass and paint.
