I would have told him to go f*** himself. For one, thats an insane price for an 04. My 08 was 21K in 09 and two if you want to buy an 04 who cares? That dealer obviously didn't want a sale that day.

'03s and some extremely early '04s. In the '04s it's only like the first 2% produced then they got the same springs used thru the rest of the 3rd Gens...

$24,000 for an '04 4x2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, the mileage is on the low side, but that's a $12k truck TOPPS! If they took it in trade, they don't have $8k in it!

By comparison, my cousin bought a BRAND NEW '08 Hemi, 4x4, ThunderRoad off the lot as the new 4th Gens started rolling in for $24,000...

I was offered $14,700 by the dealer for my truck last year when I was contemplating a new CTD and my truck is a 4x4 AND has over $13,000 in mods on it!

Yeah, these guys are on crack, I'm seeing '07 & '08 Hemi 4x2s down here with less miles (40-60k) on them for $14-16,000 all the time.

Yeah, I knew it was WAY overpriced, and that the guy was a complete @$$. My best guess is that they were doing that to try and convince people to get a newer truck for their "sale". Either way, I'm "stuck" with my little truck for now, I still really like it though. After all that I talked about it with my dad and I think I've decided it would be better to wait another year till I'm 21 that way my insurance goes way down and I can possibly get a brand new one, or close to it maybe.

You know, your '04, 4x2, seven year old truck with 60k in it got me to thinking and I pulled my invoice.

My truck ('04 4x4 Hemi, Laramie) stickered for just over $36k in '04. Thru dealer discount and rebates my final price before T,T & T was just over $28,000. NEW OFF THE FREAKIN' LOT!

Just to emphasize how crazy they are with that price!!!

Haha, yep. Those losers lost some business, I will NEVER be going back there for any reason. I'd much rather drive the 75 miles it takes to get the the dealer where I got my current truck. They helped me a lot and treated me well, not call me dumb for wanting to LOOK at an '04 and then over price it.

my father in laws '05 Laramie 1500 4x2 cost him $12,800 with 31,000 miles on it and he bought it in april of 2010. those guys are playing the old we have this used '04 for $24,000 but for just a couple thousand more we can get you into a brand new 2011 game. i used to work at a dealership and this time of year they are getting more in kickback and incentive money on a new 2011 than they could come close to making selling that used '04 even at full kbb retail price.

when the 2012 trucks are on the lot and the last of the 2011 are gone, they'll have used that "bait truck" all they can and they'll have it sitting on the lot with a big old $12,995 written in soap on the window and will probably take the first offer they get over $10,000 on it.

Well, I did a bit of searching around and ended up going back to where I got my very first vehicle out of town and I ended up finding a really nice 2008 QCSB SLT. It's got the 4.7, does that thing really have 310 HP? I didn't get to test out the acceleration very well because it was raining REALLY heavy and it was a small town with dirt roads. Either way, I had the dealer crunch numbers and he said that ALLY would give me the loan for it IF my dad co-signed and I'm trying to get away from that so I'm going to try with my bank, but if it doesn't work my dad will help. Either way, I'm excited to move up a bit, and I DON'T have to go with an older one! I'm hoping that it all works out!

That's the only pic I thought to take of it. It's in really good shape, no dings, dents, sctraches, and the interior is really well kept too. Every other truck I looked at like this was beat up a little.

I've heard of some lemon 07's and 08's, but my Dad's 07 and friends 08 have been excellent. I'm not sure where you live, but if I was to buy a truck there's no way I'd ever buy a 2wd! Makes your truck much more useable.
For a Ram I'd recommend a 4x4 Hemi 04-up. The 4.7's can last but are sensitive to overheating. 04 up hemi's have next to no weaknesses.

I'd love a Hemi, and that's what I originally went out there to look at was an '07 Hemi SXT but it sold right as I got there...and this was sitting right next to it with only 50,000 miles and the Hemi had 74,000. And also, the 4x4 part here in Abilene not only adds about $2,000, it adds about $50 to this kids monthly insurance and I can't afford either, and I wouldn't use it enough anyway. I do go through mud and dirt on a daily basis, but it's not MUD it's just mud. If my little V6 4x2 can make it on a daily basis I'm not that concerned about the 4x4. So basically if I could, I would buttttttt I can't . Thanks for the advice though, and I'll definitely keep an eye on the overheating (had that problem with my old Durango).
