Default does my 06 hemi have MDS? which engine code do i have?

Whenever i go to a parts store, 2 hemi engine codes show up, either a "2" or a "D", what does that mean and which do i have? Also, does my truck even have MDS? Its an 06 1500 hemi? I get mixed replies, some say yes while others say no

EVERY '06 and later Ram 1500s with the Hemi engine has MDS except the SFA MegaCab (which is really a 2500 in disguise).

The "2" and "D" designate which Hemi engine you have. The "D" is the code for a Hemi engine in a MegaCab, 2500 or 3500 truck which DOES NOT have MDS, while the "2" code signifies a Hemi engine in a non-Mega 1500, which is what you have.

In my experience, 92.375% of all auto parts store employees are people there just to get a paycheck at a $8 an hour job. USELESS...

LEARN THE SEARCH FEATURE, son...

Benefits or lack of with the MDS feature is discussed in both this and the tech section about weekly.

There is no set time that MDS is activated and deactivated, it's based on throttle position, how hard the engine is working and other factors and the PCM controls switching to MDS and out in mere milliseconds.

You can install an indicator light to tell you when MDS is active. I did a DIY on this years ago and it's in the FAQ/DIY section. I ain't gonna link you, because you need the searching practice, LOL...
